|Welcome To Teladoc
If you have medical coverage with MCCS, we are happy to announce a new service available from Aetna. With TELADOC, you now have 24/7/365 access to a doctor anytime, anywhere via phone or video. Set up your account today, so you can feel better and avoid the hassles of an urgent care or hospital waiting room. The attachment contains procedures to set up the account and print your ID card.
- TELADOC – we are sure most of you have seen the influx of on line or telephonic doctor visits. Well, starting 1 August 2015 Aetna participants will have the opportunity to seek medical attention via Teladoc either by phone (toll free) or on the web, for simple medical issues such as
- Sinus problems
- Cold and flu symptoms
- Respiratory infection
- Ear infection
In addition to the convenience of Teladoc, the Teladoc copayment is much less than an office visit at only $10. Teladoc is not intended to replace a participant’s primary care physician, but instead to augment the primary care doctor when appropriate. Teladoc will, with the participant’s authorization, provide information to the participant’s primary care physician about the Teladoc consultation. All Aetna participants will be required to set up an account with Teladoc prior to use. They will be prompted to do so when they contact Teladoc – the reason for this, is Teladoc will verify their active Aetna participation prior to providing services. How this works, the participant contacts Teladoc, and within one hour they will get a return call from the medical provider. Teladoc doctors are board certified and have an average of 15 years of experience. MR is currently working with Aetna to communicate this great benefit to all participants – to include a mailer that will have Teladoc “ID” cards.
- AFLAC - Coming soon. - MRG is finalizing all the last minute contract details with AFLAC to begin offering a short term Disability Income Plan to all eligible NAF employees. We have realized for years that the one missing benefit in our benefits line up was a disability income plan. By contracting with AFLAC we are very happy to close this missing hole in our line up by offering a benefit through an extremely reputable and well known company.
|Our Learning Management System is Coming in Four Months
We will be using Cornerstone OnDemand software to meet our organizational learning needs. It is a cloud-based Learning Management System that is rated “best in class”. MCCS refers to the system as ETHOS. With Cornerstone Learning, we can assign and arrange for completion of mandatory training, accelerate employee performance, engage the entire workforce and support organizational goals. Our new system will enable us to provide the types of training initiatives that encourage employees to invest in their own development on their preferred device, such as desktop computers, mobile devices, tablet computers and more. It also enables us to combine instructor-led, self-paced, virtual classroom, mobile and online forums in a single seamless learning experience that helps our employees build their skills and competencies.
Recently 30 of our employees completed training provided by the Technical College of the Low County and MCCS. Later this week we will publish the class schedule for the next session. |Second Petition For Consolidation
American Federation of Government Employees is petitioning for consolidation of the Marine Corps non-appropriated fund units represented by AFGE’s constituent locals with the U.S. Marine Corps worldwide unit that is represented by AFGE, AFL-CIO. The link below is the official NOTICE TO EMPLOYEES that is available on our employee bulletin board. It is our understand that the union is requesting that NAF bargaining unit employees be consolidated under the appropriated fund master labor agreement.
|Associate Survey Results
In September of last year, our Main Store Employees (both Parris Island and Beaufort) participated in an employee survey. This survey is conducted every year in order to learn our employees’ concerns. We have attached the results for Beaufort, Parris Island and all of MCCS. Compared to 2013’s survey, both Beaufort and Parris Island increased the Associate Survey by four points. It is our goal to have an increase every year. This survey helps us to prioritize the workplace dimensions that are important to our Associates.
|Petition For Consolidation
Marine Corps Community Services is petitioning for consolidation of nine (9) non-appropriated fund (NAF) bargaining units exclusively represented by the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE). The approximately 5600 non-appropriated employees in the affected bargaining units are employees of MCCS and the Billeting Fund. As these employees perform common functions and duties; work within the same general organizational structure and in facilities operated by MCCS and the Billeting Fund; are subject to the same chain of command (MCCS); share the same general working conditions; are governed by the same NAF personnel and LMR policies; are serviced by the same personnel office (MCCS Headquarters through the local NAF HROs); and share the same pay system (which are different and separate from the Appropriated Fund Systems) there is a community of interest among these employees. Below is a summary of the purpose of the petition: The MCCS mission is to oversee, plan, direct, coordinate, and execute Marine and Family Programs; to communicate, advocate and educate Marine and Families on accessible services and points of availability; and, to provide capabilities to operational commanders that support individual and unit readiness. To support that, MCCS is undergoing a major transformation to provide service to marines and their families as efficiently and cost effectively as possible, with a goal of maximizing use of resources, including human resources. This includes: (1) regionalization and centralization where possible (logistics, purchasing); (2) use of workforce shaping techniques; (3) use of standardized staffing patterns and position descriptions where appropriate; (4) clear definition of the qualifications and skills of the workforce to better meet the needs of the Agency now and in the future; (5) improved labor/management relations; (6) better and more available employee training: (7) strategic use of contracting authorities; (8)strategic use of cutting edge technologies: (9) and, better policy enforcement among other efforts to improve customer service. All of these efforts are being initiated and overseen by Headquarters, MCCS. The myriad program changes being made as described in paragraph 2, will require a stronger LMR program, with consistency across the enterprise for both negotiations and LMR advice and guidance.
