Money is one of the main reasons service members experience stress on the job and it is one of the top things couples fight about. We believe that by helping individuals achieve financial success we can foster confidence in facing their finances and alleviate these stressors. The Personal Financial Management Program offers a variety of services that are free as part of your benefit for serving in the military. These services include; individual financial counseling, assistance in understanding your TSP, monthly workshops, unit classes, and Command Financial Specialist training. Command Financial Specialist: Command Financial Specialist, CFS, play a significant role in the Navy and Marine Corps. A CFS is a principal advisor to their command on matters related to personal financial management. These elite and influential service members are leading the way in financial competence and proficiency by educating those within their command on financial responsibilities and challenges. In order to become a CFS service members must be pre-screened and paygrade E6 and above for enlisted and W2/O1 and above for officers. A potential CFS will receive certification after completion of 40 hours of financial training. Once training is completed, the CFS will continue to receive updated and current information regularly from their PFM.
